Disasters are both natural and man-made (human induced). Disaster Management is multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary in practice. It comprises all activities in the three phases of the disaster management cycle, i.e. before, during and after emergencies.
In Ghana, National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is the constitutionally mandated government agency to coordinate the management of disasters and other emergencies. The Organization, with its headquarters in Accra has offices in all the ten (10) regional, one hundred and thirty-eight (138) district and nine hundred (900) zonal capitals.
